The Main Street Station casino is right in the heart of downtown Las Vegas and provides a totally unique experience. The building incorporates a lot of stone and stained glass, and the staff is on the friendlier side. All combined, these people have put together a pretty relaxing, homey atmosphere, and if you've been to Vegas before, you know how different that is from the status quo. So whether you are looking for a taste of downtown, or a totally different way to experience the center of the gambling world, you may want to consider Main Street Station. The Hotel

Main Street Station's retains a lot of the old-Vegas feel that can't be found in the new mega resorts. For a decent price (think $40 per night) you can get a clean room with all of the creature comforts you would expect. Although the nostalgic construction might make Main Street Station seem outdated, they've updated their services, and you even have an in-room internet connection which is important for some visitors.

Buffet dining is practically expected in a Las Vegas hotel, and Main Street Station does not disappoint. Their Garden Court Buffet is all-you-can-eat, with freshly prepared meals starting at $6.99. Five nights a week they have a special (steak and scampi, prime rib, etc...). If you are not in the mood for a buffet, this resort is also home to the Triple 7 Restaurant and Microbrewery. Here you can get anything from pizza and burgers to steak and ribs. They even have a full sushi bar! As you might have guessed from the name, Triple 7 brews its own beer, in house, which leads to the most fresh, best tasting beer around.

If you like the idea of staying somewhere a bit off the beaten path, but you don't like the idea of skipping the great attractions on the strip, you can stop worrying. The Main Street Station has a shuttle that can take you right to the strip (among other places) and bring you back to your room when you are done. It really gives you the opportunity to experience the best of both worlds.

The Casino

In keeping with the nostalgic image, the casino is decidedly classy. In the 28,000 square feet there is a lot of polished wood, soft upholstery, and chandeliers. For craps players, this is the best place to play when downtown. You choose from up to three separate craps tables, and limits from $5-$1000. While this all sounds fine and dandy, the real selling point for crap players is the 20x odds that are available at all times. Sure it's not 100x, but 20x is many times better than the standard 3-4-5x that you'll find most places in Las Vegas.

Other Entertainment

Because of its location, the Main Street Station is in a prime spot for its visitors to be entertained. While there is not a lot of in-house entertainment, you can go to the many nearby resorts for the latest shows. Also, since you are right in town, you check out The Fremont Street Experience, which is only two blocks away. They have a world famous light show, as well as a shopping mall, and entertainment for the whole family. The fastest way to get to the FSE is through the California Club, down the escalator, and then through the Las Vegas Club.
